Default 4.0 Mustang a thing of the past?

Even though the mustang 4.0 is becoming a thing of the past especially with the new mustang 300 HP and up and also the 2014 rearing it's head in. I still love my car and would never get rid of it. I might get a second mustang (V8 obviously). But my 4.0 has got personality. What about the rest of you 4.0 owners you still love your car?

Yes but it's getting tough with all these 300+ hp cars out there now

If you consider it a thing of the past because of its power output, you can always increase that substantially with the addition of nitrous or a super/turbocharger.

Mine is at 179,300 miles right now, still running strong with the Xcharger Xtreme and capable of mid 12 runs. I'm going to do an engine swap and just stay with the 4.0 - easy to do and the engines are pretty easy to find (actually I'm just waiting for one to come out of a car this fall with only 20,000 miles on it that I'll put on an engine stand and maybe pull the heads for a port and polish and then be ready for the swap).

But I have to admit I wouldn't mind picking up a new 5.0 Shelby GT350.

Those are my plans exactly, after pricing out a V8 swap and how I would do it done right its not feasible for the cost. And also yes the 4.0 motor is very easy to find, like you mentioned Jim I plan on getting one for an engine stand and building it.

I plan to Xtreme Charge soon and my wife told me to just trade up to an 11 or 12. But I like my car, it has meaning, it isn't just a stupid car. I plan on keeping mine and possibly down the road picking up another, probably GT.

The iron block 4.0 has been around for a long time.... but thats a plus. Because it has been around so long, most if not all of the kinks have been worked out. No 3.7 tick or 5.0 cylinder #8 explosion. Power adders take very well with little to no engine work, JimC is a testament to that. his 4.0 currently owns an award here on the forums. Also because its been around for 10+ years on so many platforms, parts are dirt cheap. Price a water pump for a late model mustang, then for an import, then for our 4.0. Sure it may be weaker and less efficient, but its a time tested, bullet proof workhorse and im proud to own one!

also i might be biased

I love my car and it's been really good to me for 171K miles so far in 6 years. I have a kid starting college and another 2 years behind that so I'd like to get about another 6 years out of this one. If the engine takes a dump I hope to pick up another with low miles and Xcharge this time around.

Kinda bummed this weekend I cleaned the engine bay and found the well documented bubbling paint under the leading edge of the hood, so I have that small project to attend to before winter.
