Default Plug Change... Uh Oh!

So I changed the plugs in my '06 today and had an issue. All of the plugs were fine except for the middle driver's side plug. It was pretty tight coming out, but the threads on the plug looked fine. When I put the new one in it was tight going in and it didn't feel like it ever made it to the shoulders on the plug. I ran it down to the point where I was afraid to go any farther and left it. It ran fine and didn't blow the plug out so hopefully I'm ok. I've heard rumors about the #5 plug being a problem but I didn't know if this applied to the V6 or not. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Greg

Did you install it by hand as far as you could? I haven't had any problems with changing the plugs on my V6, but have heard people say that the #5 is a problem. On any of the plugs you need to start them by hand as far as you can so that you don't cross thread them. If you try to start it with the wrench you will easily cross thread a plug.

I find the #3 to be the most difficult because of the angle. When I swapped plugs a couple of weeks ago I found that the #3 was split and it actually came apart in my hands after I removed it.

I was under the impression that the "spark plugs falling apart" was a v8 thing.

Different issue Jasoon - the V8 plugs used to break taking them out. The #5 plug on the V6 people have had trouble with cross threading for some reason.

Mine wasn't the same as the V8 issue, it was simply a plug that was bad apparently and didn't show the crack in the porcelain when I put it in - taking it out though the crack became evident. The #3 is also difficult to install simply because it angle back toward the fire wall, is difficult to see along with the difficult angle, so it is always a PITA when I change the plugs.

I knew about the 05-08 or 09 GT problems as we owned one.
But we got ours changed successfully even though some gave problems.
First time I have heard of this problem though.

I've never had a problem with the #5 cross threading but others have had issues. I always start the plug by hand though and never put a socket to it until I know it is started properly by hand.

The #3 is just a problem with access and my breakage isn't a known problem, rather it was a defect in the plug that I didn't notice when I installed it. The crack was probably minor and just putting the miles on it is what broke it finally.
