This subject is beat to death every day it seems like. You will have minimal gains with a BBK or K&N without a tune. However both of those will work without a tune, be sure to follow the instructions while installing the BBK or you will get check engine lights... Ideally though you may want to look into buying a CAI that requires a tune and getting a tune a long with it.

www.americanmuscle.com is a good place to start. Goodluck.

The tune is more important than the CAI is actually.
Both CAI's will get you the same power. The tune gets you more power than the CAI does
though.

DONT get one without a tune. You might as well light your money
on fire with a blow torch.

This does get repeated all the time, OP try the search bar next time if possible =)

But yeah what blacksmoke and redfire said lol. The 4.0 mustangs don't have breathing problems, they have passive-aggressive tunes (probably ford trying to eek out the mpgs?).

Skip the fancy metal tubing, and go for the handheld (almost ipod like) wonder. At 350ish bucks, it can do a lot to suit your driving style, and it really does help as a catalyst for future mods if you decide to go that route. Whereas the CAI might get ditched down the road depending on what you do with the car...

By the way, aaquib did not mean skip the whole CAI when he said skip the fancy tubing.
He meant skip the expensive CAI's that cost more because of fancy tubing or name such as Saleen. Saleens CAI are expensive and you are paying for the name.

I've read the stock airboxes on the 2010+ are very efficient. The power gain mostly comes from the custom tune. If you are looking for a performance gain, go for the hand held tuner and custom tunes from American Muscle or Brenspeed!

Don't light your money on fire!
Take his advice, don't get a CAI w/o a Tune.
