Default LSD for my pony, anything else REQUIRED?

so i recently bought my fathers pony off him, a 2007 v6 auto w/ pony package. i installed a k&n intake, i have my diablo tuner, and my pypes true dual system is in my dining room waiting to be installed this saturday. my question is, can i just buy one of the lsd's from americanmuscle (or another place) and have it installed, or do i need to upgrade my gears as well? i know its at least recommended for the performance standpoint, but my budget is tight (need snow tires; winter is coming)and im not looking to take this to the track, i just want that little extra traction and handling, since its only 210$ plus installation. and i guess my secondary question would be, suppose i did spring for the 373 or 410 gears, do i need the full kit, or can i just buy the less than 200$ set listed on AM?

You can just buy the tlok and have it installed if you aren't looking for any performance changes that gears would give you and don't intend to race the car.

But price it out, with installation. You may find it is actually cheaper to just buy a take off 8.8 and swap that instead. Especially if you are going to stay with the 3.31 gears because that rear end tends to be a lot cheaper.

+1 on the 8.8. I'm glad I went that route as opposed to sticking with the 7.5 rear

From what I'm seeing a new rear is like 1k, which I cant do right now, so it looks like im just going the lsd only route. Maybe ill get the gears in a few months

No you don't order the differential for the 8.8 - it won't fit your 7.5 rear end (with 28 spline axle).

you have a PM

You must not have PM activated so you will have to contact me, I left a message on your "visitor page" on your profile

Hit the "User CP" button at the top of the page and go to "Edit Options". The enable PM check box is about half way down the page.
