Question Brake pad change? 2007 v6 mustang 23k miles

Hey all, just hit 23.5k miles on my 07 v6 stang. I think I'm in need of changing my brake pads, there not squeaking or anything but 2 months ago my mechanic told me i had 25% on the rear and 30% on the front. Im not really sure what kind of brake pads i need but id love to get them at my local walmart. Just got 5 quarts of advanced synthetic mobil 1 and a frame extra guard filter for 30$ with tax out the door. I need to know what size and make i should get. thank you.

I just bought some pads at O'Reilly's that seem pretty decent and the price was good too.

I know that a lot of people have bought the Duralast Gold C-Max and been pleased with those.

Here is the rear:

I'm usually pissed if I don't get at least 60k miles on a set of pads. My Stang only has 37k miles but I typically get 100k miles or more on my previous 2 and current SUV's brakes and I tow with them. I suppose it's all about how and where you drive.

Usually factory pads are good for at least 50k, if you wore them out that fast I'd be looking to buy some really good pads.

we have had a hard time with random squeeking with non motorcraft pads. there are some duralast gold pads on the rear of my v6 and they squeek randomly. doesnt bother me, but it does some people. just sayin

First of all, if your pads have that much left, they're still good and do not need replacing.
Second, how does he KNOW how much is left percentage-wise?

Lastly, you're not going to get brake pads at walmart; if you do, they're junk.

Until the wear indicators on your pads are very close to your rotors, you dont need to change them (unless they are damaged or cracked).

Learn about your car and stop getting shafted!

my 2007 v6 has 41k miles on it... i put slotted rotors and brakes on the rear last month... the factory pads would have been good for another 40k at least...they were still very thick.

i live in memphis, but do mostly highway driving to work etc...

i guess if you live in a city and do all city driving 23k might wear out pads... i dunno know

I have Autozone Duralast Gold Cmax (ceramic) brake pads on my 2007 GT500 and they have been flawless. No noise, good braking for street application and very low dust.

i used ohreillys best the first time around, then upgraded to gt frts and went with powerstop drilled/slotted rotors and evolution ceramic pads from brake motive on ebay. the whole shot $205. they have been great. put them on both our stangs now. v6 or gt size, same price
