Default Manual Transmission Acting Weird

Last week I bought a 2006 V6 Manual Transmission Mustang, from a dealership, and now the transmission is starting to act funny. It doesnt seem as if it's wanting to shift all the time. I'll be driving down the road, and i'll put it from 2nd to 3rd, and the RPMs don't change whatsoever. The car doesn't accelerate any more than what i could've done in 2nd. Move it to 4th. Same as 2nd. Move it to 5th. Still the same as 2nd gear. If i move it down to 3rd, then 3rd gear actually decides to kick in. Today it stuck on 1st in a 45, and i couldn't get her to go over 20 MPH. Does anyone have any ideas what's wrong with my car?

Sounds very strange to me also.... only thing that comes to mind would be a complete and utter failure of the shift linkages. If that were the case, I daresay it would be stuck in gear period. Can you successfully put the car in "neutral"?

It does go into neutral just fine. Today it worked a little better than yesterday, but I was still having periods of little to no acceleration. I got a little pissed off at it after i was in 3rd, shifted to 4th, and it quit working. But in my rage, I floored the accelerator, and right before the RPMs hit the red, they dropped, and it started working.

ckoval, how long have you been driving manual?
It sounds like you are new at it and don't know how to shift and accelerate.

I took it into they dealership, and they said that my clutch might be slipping. They drove it around, and noticed the same problem that I was having.

I actually thought about it again and was going to mention that, that for sure sounds like your clutch is slipping bad! Is this your first manual and maybe you toasted it? Or did you get it like that.

Nah, I drove an S10 before. They want me to take it into their mechanic, and if it's non-clutch related, then they'll pay for it. However, if it is the clutch I have to fix it myself.

Hmmmm.... OK if it's slippage that sure is an issue. As to CAUSE... that's another thing. How many miles on the car?
