Meh, I wouldn't really want the 4.0L if you asked me now. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and slap my unknowing self when I was car shopping... I didn't really know better, and a decent GT with a few more miles and a year or two older would have barely cost me more than a few grand (my dealer even had a nice dark grey one).

You sound like you are a performance enthusiast, so I would suggest you skip the 4.0, you'll just sink the difference of cost for a GT in trying to get the v6 to keep up...

the 4.0 will need serious modding to be as quick as your old cobra imo, put it this way, its got a tiny bit more power than a civic si (210 vs 197) in a car that weighs a good 400lbs more, alto its got considerably more tq. still i'd say go with a 4.6 or at least a 3.7 cuz your probably always gonna be wondering bout what you coulda had if you get the 4.0

I'm definitely interested in the 12-13 v6 - same hp rating as my Cobra, a bit less torque though. Still a bit pricey for the ol budget, but this time I am buying to keep for a long time. I have time, so I'll just save my pennies and when it is time to shop, I'll know what to look for...

Yes, but looking at your car, it is just gorgeous. Love the white and what you have done to it. This is what drags me toward the cheaper 4.0 alternative but knowing I don't want a slow ride, I'll just get a white GT if I go with the 05-09 style. I'm trying to stay away from the 05 model year, it is 7 years old now and I'm always leery of the first year of any new model.

Thanks dude much appreciated (sig is waaay outdated if that's what you're going by). Overall, I love my car (most of the time) but in the end, if I had to do it over again, I'd have a SN95 Cobra, 99/01 Cobra or something along those lines. With what I've done to the car, it's relatively quick, knocked off/hung with stock/modded new edge GTs, but in the end of the day, it just feels like it's missing something. I originally bought the car because I liked how it looked, assumed it was good on gas and insurance. Last two are NOT the case

See you're in VA, coming to OCMD for crusin weekend?

I'd love to, unfortunately I have a ton of crap going on over the next several weeks... I'll be on the lookout for some pics though!

If you could afford to, I say go for the newer 2011+ 3.7 v6. You have the s197 looks, power of your old Cobra if not more, and better gas mileage, test drive the 4.6, 4.0 and 3.7 before you buy anything first....

I agree with everybody, test drive the different engines and then try to find a deal on one you liked.

from a v6 guy with 3.73 gears, custom tune, aluminum driveshaft..

get the gt!

I can keep up with stock gt 05-09 from 0-60 but i'd take a slower v8 just for that thearoputic sound of a v8 exhaust

none the less. the xcharger whine will have to do in june
