2006 pony making humming noise?????
I am having trouble with my car making a loud humming noise between 800-1000 RPMs. I intitialy thought it was a bad TPS or throttle body. So I replaced the throttle body and TPS and the noise went away for about a day, then came back. I must be close because it actually went away for a day. 800-1000 RPM is roughly 5-20 miles an hour when it makes that noise. It does do it on hot days also if that matters. I guess I should add that its louder on hot days. I replced the throttle body with factory one. It actually runs a lot smoother though. This all started when I was street racing. I would slam on the gas then let go then slam it again to change the gears as it is an automatic. does that make sense? then after the race I went home and was about to put it in park and then the noise started. its a loud humming/buzzing noise. please threads gods bless me with a miracle.

on a side note. I dont have to be moving for it to make that noise. I can actually just idle and the noise will be there between 800-1000 RPM. sometimes if I drive it for 20 minutes it will go away for that drive, whether its a 20 minute drive or 5 minute drive, sometimes.

It's humming because it doesn't know the words.
Can you get someone to poke their head around the engine compartment and all around the chassis for a better idea of where it's coming from? The 800 RPM range is a bit of a notorious place on these cars for resonant frequencies and have been traced to exhaust and heat shields but without some more info and possibly a sound clip, it's hard to tell.

Okay I got it answered and fixed.
It was a grinding humming noise that I was 100% sure it was coming from the transmission. Guess what it wasnt. My battery died and I replaced it, while I did that i decided to replace the alternator and there lied the culprit. The alternator was resonating a souns through the entire car that sounded like a gear was slipping at idle or running between 800-1100 RPM. Replaced them both and now i trust my car again. I replaced the throttle body and that cleared a lot of my problems also. Well if you hear a sound like that and I also had the check charging systems lights on, i chose to replace the battery and alt. im good to go and so happy.
