An Xcharger Xtreme put my convertible to 12.6 at 107, a little quicker than my friend's 2008 GT with a CAI and tune. Can't tell you which of us got to 100 first, only that I beat him to the stripe.

I would opt for the GT... even if it's not as quick. Why? Well... X-charging a 4.0 is adding an assload of power to a system that was not exactly designe for it. Not that you can't upgrade everything to accomodate... just easier to get the GT.

Now... that said... you'll be paying insurance on a GT vs. a 4.0. That could get a little nuts based on your age, driving record and location.

Just my $.02

A blown v6 will usually beat a stock or lightly modified gt. I used to whip up on them all the time at the track.

Well, I ran a 75 shot of nitrous on my old 4.0 for 2 years, and at 90,000 miles pulled the nitrous and put the Xcharger on it. I sold it with 203,000 miles on it, still running 12's at the track. The new owner said it is running great for him as well.

So I'm not sure how much "upgrade everything" is needed on the 4.0. It is a strong engine to start with.

Always fun to have the V8 guys come up in the pits, look under the hood, count the spark plug wires and walk away saying "crap, I'm getting my a$$ kicked by a V6"

Not bad. Not saying the machines are not robust.... when you add that much power you're at the point of eating well into... and possibly beyond the design safety factor. Let's face it... downstream components that are chosen to hook up to an engine with an output of 210hp may not be quite as robust as those being installed on a 270 or 300hp GT.

I will say though... nice to hear yours was so venerable. :-)
