Impressive! I've done 28 MPG in mine once, but I had the cruise set all the way from Salt Lake City to Boise and never stopped.

I drive about 50 miles a day, 90% highway and I get 24-25. 30 mpg is awesome, I am impressed.

Do you have any mods, or is that 30 mpg from bone stock?

The only time that got 30 mpg was right after I fill up and hit the highway on the way home. But I average about 25. Maybe my foot is too heavy.

Mine's all stock. I have a 130 mile roundtrip commute, the vast majority of which is highway. With that kind of trip, I have to be conscious of gas mileage so I just don't drive it like it's a V8.

I'm always surprised to hear from those that get worse highway mileage. In the winter I drive an '08 4Runner with a 4.0L and an automatic and even that is getting just over 25 mpg.

Yes, i believe that the 2 biggest factors behind good mpg are driving style and maintenance. I have only had my 4.0 for a few months but in that time i have done a good tune-up and have been seeing about 25mpg combined average (maybe 60% hwy) while still having a little fun.

As far as Nordrel's question, driving style and maintenance will also be huge it the reliability factor as well. Treat your engine how you want it to treat you. If you don't keep up on proper maintenance and drive-it-like-ya-stole-it, it may not last as long as you hope. But if you keep up on maintenance and drive it properly (and i'm not saying you have to baby it, it's a stang so you gotta have fun with it, just be smart about it) i believe they will last well over 200,000 miles

while i dont see many mustangs other than mine, we have explorers come in the shop regularly with over 200k miles. most of them arent treated well, but to still be running at 200k and not making noise, id say pretty good.

This has been a good read. Useful in my research to import a used one into China when my family moves next year. Thanks to the OP for the question and the good responses. A few questions though if I may:

1. What's the avg life span of the previous Mustang platforms 4L (keep in mind I know nothing about Mustang as we don't get them in Australia)? Any changes to speak of from the previous model?
2. What is the power that is produced by the 4L? And if someone knows how to convert it to KW's I'd really appreciate it.
3. Is there a link to get the tech specs on this model eg weight etc?
4. And links to the side mount that you guys were talking about?

Wink

My Performance White Stang with the 4.0 has 155,000 on it now and the only thing I have done is regular oil changes and filter changes, I average about 28 mpg on summer fuel and 24 mpg on this winter fuel.
