05 V6 Trans hesitates to shift reverse!

Hello. I am brand new here and already have my first question. I'll GREATLY appreciate any help and insight into the situation. My 05 4.0L V6 (automatic) hesitates to shift into reverse. I've noticed its a very common problem on here. But most of the other posts say that it clunks or bucks into reverse after hesitating. Mine is not. It's hesitating for 2-3 seconds solid before actually shifting. It's only happening for reverse, very difficult to purposely replicate, and does not happen regularly...but is happening at least daily. I've already taken it to ford and they replaced the solenoid assembly and replaced trans fluid. PLEASE HELP, if anyone can direct as to what else is the cause...and solution. THANK YOU

Is it a REAL 2-3 seconds or an "impatient" 2-3 seconds? There's always a slight delay in most auto tranny shifts from forward to reverse and vice versa, albeit a REAL 3 seconds could be a tad excessive. As long as the 1-2, 2-3 up-shifts and down-shifts are fine, I'm not sure I'd worry about it. If it really bothered me, then I'd try Amsoil or some other name brand synthetic tranny fluid before any other component replacements. But overall, I don't believe you have a real problem, what with the dealership already replacing the solenoid and fluid.

And btw, welcome to a great forum!

It was a serious 2 seconds forsure... no problems with other gears. And since I've made thus post... the slow shifting has completely stopped and not been replicated. So, I'm thankful for that! Thanks for the advice about the synthetic tranny fluid. I appreciate the response, and having a dependable community.
