Default loose drive belt??

Hey all, I worked on my inlaws 05 ford mustang, I changed the water pump and everything looks the same, compared the old to the new, bolted up fine but when I try to reuse the belt I originally took off, thiers an amazing amount of slack.....should I just get a new belt?

Make sure your looking at the belt diagram correctly. If the water pump was installed correctly then it should not affect the belt at all.

It the belt was tight before, you probably don't have it routed properly.
