V6 mods for better MPG not HP
Hello, I am new to the forum just having got my 06 Redfire Convertible last week. I have done searches but cant find a specific thread on this.
I am looking for mods to get better MPG. This car is plenty fast for me already!
my V6 is stock with 100,000 miles on it.
all help will be appreciated.

With 100k miles I would do a good tune up if one has not been done in a while. New fluids, new plugs and wires, check your air pressure. All these things will help the engine run better and get better MPG.
While your at it you should check your muffler bearings, and turn signal fluid.
Welcome,
Matthew

thanks for the suggestion and the welcome. On my tune up list is an Accel Supercoil, new wire, and new plugs to start. I am going to replace ALL fluids within the next month along with hoses and belts.

I agree with what matt said, the best thing to do for a newly bought car is a complete tune-up. Replace plugs and wires, all fluids (oil, trans, diffs, brake, pwr string) i would recommend all synthetics, all filters (oil, air, fuel, trans if automatic), serpentine belt, clean maf sensor and throttle body, check brakes (pads, rotors, calipers), and make sure tires are inflated properly.
All of these things will contribute to maximizing the mpg of the vehicle while also greatly extending the life of the vehicle by properly keeping up with the maintenance.
After all that, if you are still looking to better the mpg, i would recommend looking into custom tunes. I have bama custom tunes and have noticed a slight mpg increase (when i am able to resist opening it up lol)

Sounds like you have a good starting plan. I would recommend reading about the coil more first tho, i personally havn't replaced my coil but it seems that the general consensus in these forums is to stick with oem coil, i've heard that the aftermarket coils give more problems

Forget all the hype you read about saving fuel. Other than an economy tune (and soccer mom's will give you the finger as they blow your doors off), the only fuel saver is a well maintained engine, proper tires and tire pressure and the driver's driving habits/style.
