Will a full size tire fit in spare tire space?

Will a full size tire fit in spare tire space?
Hello,
I Have a 2006 V6 convertible. I hate the "doughnut" spare tires all car manufacturers provide with their cars now.
The wheels on the car are the factory original as far as I can tell. Also, the previous owner did not do any changes or modifications at all.
I want to get a full size tire and put in the trunk for a spare.
Will a full size tire and wheel fit in the spare tire space properly?
Is it too big around or to tall or will it fit just right?
I am sure that someone out there has tried this.
Thanks for any help on this matter.

It should be too tall, as the one in there now is a space saver. There's a couple reasons why that spare is a space saver. One it is more compact and the other is it weighs a lot less than the full sized tire+rim. I thought about doing this myself but carrying around less weight is better than more. It was a cool thing to see in the promo shots of the S197 with glass roof before the 05s came out but I haven't seen it done (I think those cars had the spare under the rear window anyway rather than in the trunk)
I actually own two sets of rims and one has a nearly new tire on it (which I hadn't been able to sell on CL, everyone wants something for 10 bucks to nothing on there). But never gave a thought to putting it in the car. I mean, I don't take the car on the baja after all I guess if you're doing some offroad racing you need all the spare tire you can get. otherwise the space saver will get you to where you need to go.

What's your issue with the doughnut? In over 1,000,000 miles of just my OWN driving (not including my wife and kids) I had to use a spare twice. Keep the doughnut and have a full size at the house if you feel the need for a full size to have on hand. I'll be surprised if you even NEED it over the life of the car.

hey not to be random but a handy used piece of equipment to pick up when I had my 86 firebird I got a c02 tank out of a compartment out of the rear inside fender well can't remember witch side but was enough to about fill up two tires and i haven't got the chance to check but i think you can re fill it just a handy piece of equipment to have!!!

I have a regular tire in my 07 mustang spare tire well. It is just a tiny bit too tall, and the lid stays up just a small bit, but it is worth it to me to have a "real" tire for a spare. It is a stock size on a stock rim.

How about no spare at all? I roll with a fix a flat can for temporary use, a long with a portable air compressor. All in good reason though since if I did have a flat the car is too low to jack up with the scissor jack, plus it would probably rub due to the small spare.
