I only have 16K on my 2010. It has clunked since day 1. I don't have the notchiness though.

wouldn't the slave affect all of the gears? I just have trouble with first and only occasionally.

Those suggesting a slave cylinder problem could very well be right. Before you go to the expense of having it replaced, you might want to try replacing the fluid. The T5 is a bit of a finicky transmission. For me, it was difficulty shifting into reverse and a jerky response when accelerating in first when the transmission was hot after many miles of travel.

Draining the fluid and refilling it is relatively painless with a fluids pump. I'd highly recommend using AIMSOIL. It's not the cheapest, but 3 quarts won't break the bank. It's not a miracle cure, but I think those that have used it will agree it seems to smooth things out. If it doesn't solve the problem, you can still sleep nights knowing that you have the best fluid in there, in my opinion.

The tranny has a reverse lockout.
Put it into 4th before trying to find reverse.

I have the problem. Could not get it into 1st to save my life.
This mostly happens after spirited driving (gouging on it)
and downshifting to help with the side drift around the corner.
it is like applying the E-Brake but not.
Very on the edge of traction driving. Taking it to the max
of accelleration and maximum braking.
I did the AMSOIL fluid swap. Not much of a difference but
fixed the low factory fill problem (1/2 below the fill plug? NO.)
My clutch still engages where it did on the pedal travel when new.
I would suspect that the disengagement is working proper?
Sometimes if I dont push to the left excessivly but just a slight
bit over to the right where the 1st gear slot is, it will go. Like I
have worn a notch against the left side of the 1st gear gate
and the shifter is catching there.
BTW SALEEN SHORT SHIFTER KIT installed when new.http://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-2010-Saleen-Ford-Mustang-Short-Throw-Shifter-Kit-Fit-GT-4-6L-V8-/280903236152?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4167233a38&vxp=mtr
