Broken black plastic in auto shifter

Broken black plastic in auto shifter
The black plastic that slides when shifting gears broke.
It's the thin cheap piece of carp plastic on the top.
It broke on the park side of the shifter.
The car is driveable but can't shift into 1 or 2 because the plastic jams.
Can this plastic piece be replaced without removing the entire shifter?
Can I break the rest of the plastic out without breaking something else?
I appreciate your feedback.
thanks,

Yeah that's pretty much what happend to mine.
I saw that thread and a couple others when I searched.
Cheaply made assembly. I really don't want to buy a shifter
because a cheap piece of plastic broke.
I don't want to remove the shifter at all.
I may just rip the rest of the plastic out and ponder on it for a while. Thanks,

You asked how to fix it but you don't want to remove the shifter to fix it or buy a new one?
It sounds like a good bit but pulling the shifter out is so easy I don't know why you wouldn't just do that and take the cover off. If you rip the plastic out you risk ruining something else and costing yourself more time and money.

Happened to me too on my 05 V6. The plastic piece eventually tore off entirely and lodged itself further up the track. Didn't have to deal with the shifter getting stuck anymore after that. Never got around to truly "fixing" it; just glad I got a new stang, which will probably have its own issues further down the line.
