Default Brake Fluid Change

I heard on Motor Week this morning that it is a good idea to change the brake fluid every 2 years due to water build up. I thought everything is pretty much sealed. Just my comment. I'll probably call my mechanic and get his input. He's an honest fellow and works on mine when required. Maybe a preventative maintenance thing?

I beleive its since the use of ABS that this has become a more of an issue. The ABS unit is sensitive to the effects of degraded fluid that moisture causes. Even though it is a sealed system brake fluid attracts moisture so it builds up water over time. For that reason its not good to keep open bottles of brake fluid around for very long. I buy the small bottles for this reason unless I'm doing a planned flush.

Default Flush and Change Brake Fluid

I am going to put this and the new SUV on the 2 year cycle to flush and change brake fluid. I guess you might call it preventative maintenance. You learn something new every day!
