Aftermarket gauge help!

I have a 2005 mustang v6 and Wondering if anyone has installed an Aftermarket fuel gauge and where did they connect/splice the signal wire to? where is fuel level sender wire located? Thanks.

Just curious but why do you want to install an aftermarket fuel gauge?

Get power, light, and ground from anywhere, then the sensor wire to the pump, or behind
the dash. Not sure you can use both the cluster gauge and the aftermarket gauge
at the same time. You can if the signal is from the ECU, and not directly from the pump
sending unit. Then you can run the "S" wire back to the pump, and splice it in.

Because my cluster one is funky and to get a better reading.

Maybe your cluster just needs the stepper motors rebuilt -- it is a common problem on the S197. Might be easier than installing aftermarket. And if one gauge is going out the others will likely soon follow.

do you know what wire that is and where its located on the dash?

That's why my cluster was replaced by the dealer, twice, till they sent me to FORD to
have the second one programmed, on the 3rd and final trip... But there are kits to fix
the gauges.

The gauges do not read from the sensors, that data is sent to the SJB, then data out over CAN BUS to the instrument cluster.
Not sure of the the colors change year to year, maybe, but the schematic says LG-VT to the smart junction box, from the sender.

I'd suggest two options and you could do both:

1. Have the stepper motors replaced in your existing gauge cluster. You can even DIY if you're handy with a soldering iron and buy the x27 stepper motors from ebay.
2. Buy the ELM 327 bluetooth OBD 2 diagnostic reader https://www.totalcardiagnostics.com/elm327-bluetooth that plugs into your OBD 2 port, download the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rscanner&hl=en from Google Play onto your smart phone, and use your phone as a dashboard with all the gauges you want on display. I've been using it for a while and it's brilliant. :D
