Default Forced Induction

I am
at the point where I would like more speed with my car, and I don’t know if i should turbocharge/supercharge my 4.0, or just switch to another car all together.

The most fun car I owned was my 2006 Mustang -- put a 75 shot of nitrous on the 4.0 and had a lot of fun with that. Pulled the nitrous off at 90,000 miles and put the Xcharger Xtreme supercharger on it (dual power adders don't work out well on the 4.0).

How much did the twin scroll Xtreme cost you and did you install it yourself etc. Do you know the rough rwhp numbers?

I bought the Xcharger used and then upgraded it to the Xtreme which is adding the intercooler.

The twin scroll is a different blower. It's hard to find an Xcharger right now because Dave and Patty retired and closed up. You have to watch for someone selling a used one.

The Xtreme will be in the 300 RWHP area, while upgrading the blower to the twin screw will get more. I rode in the first one that was done by Gaylon a few years ago when I was out in Washington state and met up with him for lunch. It was a different car from the Xcharger Xtreme.

The Vortech will produce more power than the Xcharger, and I believe is still available.

I have never seen any listings for used forced induction parts for my car, is it sensible to fabricate my own with a turbo for lets say a subaru?

We would recommend a Procharger P-1SC-1 system. We have the High Output Intercooled system which is PCH-FQ211-40 or PCH-FQ211-40-H for the quiet version. Either of these would produce 6 PSI and you can expect a 45-50% hp gain. If you wanted more boost you could go with the Stage II kit PCH-FQ212-40 or the quiet version of it which is PCH-FQ212-40-H. Either of these units will produce 8-10 PSI and you can expect a 55-70% hp gain.
