Potential Oil Leak

Hello all,

I am not familiar with mustangs. I drive and F-150 and do most of my own servicing.

My girlfriend has a 2006 4.0 liter mustang and I recently went to check the fluids and noticed oil build up near the intake (where indicated below). The car is otherwise driving fine and has no CEL or DTC.

What is that hose that my arrow is pointing at? Any help in regards to the leak would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all!

That's not an oil leak. It is part of the PCV and lets oil film get into the intake to be burned off rather than released to the atmosphere. Many of us put oil catch cans on to keep most of the crap out of the intake, especially those running boost on the 4.0.

Thank you very much for the info!

So any action items on my part? Is there a chance it's leaking and that's why it's covered the top of the intake?

No it isn't leaking -- it isn't an oil line. There isn't anything for it to "leak".

It puts oil vapors into the intake, and it will coat your intake manifold unfortunately.

Not a leak as others have stated but, there is an o-ring in that hose that if it's worn, cracked, or torn, you will get some dampness around that area. That being said, if the seal is bad enough, you will get a slight lean condition because you'll get some unmetered air going into the intake. The car can compensate up to a certain point but, it does affect your MPG and can cause a bog at take off or an uneven idle depending on how bad it is and still not throw a CEL.

By replacing the PVC valve, that should be done regularly? Not looking to install a catch can. I burn Top Tier and use Mobile 1 full synthetic. Car runs smooth.
