Default do rims hurt performance?

do deep dish rims hurt performance? I figure they and the tires would be heavier, therefore less performance?

If the wheels/tires weigh more, you will have more mass for the engine to rotate, so technically yes. However deep dish usually implies wider tires, which will benefit traction and handling, so the good outweighs the bad. And I have actually seen some aftermarket deep dish wheels that weight less than the stock wheels.

It is a heavier rotating mass so it probally will hurt performance alittle, but it will help more in traction than hurt in performance. Just my opinion.

+1

You won't notice any difference in acceleration due to a little bit heavier wheels/tires.... And like I said, what tiny bit you will lose in acceleration you will more than gain in appearance handling and traction...

it really depends on what your are doing with the car. if you are wanting to drag race it you would be better off wiht some lighter wieght wheels with drag slicks if you are road racing then the wide wheels will help.

for street use if you like the looks of a deep dish go with them.

I would take great looking rims over 1-2hp any day plus you will get more traction cuz wider tires
