Stock Mach 1 Exhaust

RE: Stock Mach 1 Exhaust
From what I've found out and heard from my own ears, I think it's basically a GT exhaust with some more aggressive mufflers. Correct me if I'm wrong, this is just a good guess, but I'm about 60% sure. A stock Mach has a louder exhaust system than a stock GT for sure though, that's no question. They also have rolled chrome tips.

RE: Stock Mach 1 Exhaust
It always amazed me too how my wife's Bullitt had such rude exhaust for a stock car. So, when I was building a v-6 GT for my son we decided on duals and bought the pacesetter kit. Then I started looking for a GT stock exhaust to tag onto the car and lo and behold A bullitt GT system for $100. I grabbed it and installed it. It sounded neat on the v-6, and really gave it some kick. Then my son after 1 month totals the car, I installed it on my GT. One muffler has a dent but otherwise ok. You know, my car still didn't sound as rude as that Bullitt. I've since removed the system and put flows on the car, now it is ruder than the Bullitt. I've installed headers, ruder yet, next a catted hi-flow X-pipe. I'm sure it will be even louder. It seems as you increase flow, exhaust tone increases as well. My guess, but I can't substantiate it is: # 1 the Bullitt/MACH 1 utilize better flowing intakes/TBs, #2 my second suspision is higher flowing cat-pipes, I've never checked the part #s, but I'll bet on it, why else would my car be quieter with the same exhaust, even after adding a TB/plenum/riser combo. Also the Mach is a 4 valve engine, which inherently outflows the GT's 2V setup. Bottom line, More flow=more noise/tone even with same mufflers.
