Default Steady loud exaust...

I have a 99 automatic GT (stock) and wanted to know how to make the exaust sound loud even wile cruising on the freeway because time after time i hear other mustangs that are loud on the freeway and they are cruising at fast speeds with no shifting and i wanted to know if any of you new how to get that powerful deep throaty exaust pass by sound because it sound awesome when a muscle car flies by and you hear it growlin. Also what would be the best cat-back exaust package to get because i assume it would start there, and remember im in Cali so i need to stay smog approved,.

Thanks alot,

Why would you want to be constantly annoyed by loud exhaust while driving? I have never understood this.

turn your overdrove off... Thats about the only way to keep your RPMs up and loud. Just dont cruse at too high of speeds with it off though.

you cant really be smog legal and be really LOUD. get long tubes, catted mid-pipe, and loud mouth 1. but that combo is prob very illegal in Cali.

I guess it depends on what you consider LOUD. For me, with my stock H pipe and LM1s its borderline annoying at 2000RPM on the highway. It can easily be covered up with the radio, but if you like/want that sound then I guess you are in a different boat.

How much louder would one's exhaust be if they were to put on some shorty headers?

My flowmasters are frickin loud as hell. It is almost annoying and I have to turn the radio way up to hear it. I scare the hell out of people when leaving a light in normal driving. I have an H-pipe though, so I am sure that adds to it. The best sounding exhaust I have had were Borlas, with there H-pipe.

Flowmasters drone is unbelievable; I dont know how you stand it. They also arent very loud without a midpipe.

Mines loud as hell behind the car, but not that much louder than just the catback in the car. Straight through exhaust. [8D]
