Maybe I can help him out. There is no sound that can turn heads like a stang (factory or not). I remember back in 89 when my brother had his LX 5.0 and everybody in the neighborhood started getting them. I could be in the house looking at TV and when a 5.0 turned at my corner I knew exactly what it was and most of the time I would get up and look outside. I could never understand why the bowtie boys didn't have that "I'm a pitbull" sound. I liken them to mastiffs (big dogs, not much sound but would fight if provoked). Pitbulls don't have to be provoked.
To me nothing says "American" like a Mustang. Where I work, there are a lot of international students and when I fire up the Stang and leave the parking lot they always give me a thumbs up. I guess that's one of the reasons why the Mustang has never became extinct like Trans Am and Camaro. Yeah, the camaro has a hot concept out there and Chrysler has even jumped into the fight with the Charger. But the Mustang never took a vacation (except during the Mustang II days) they keep making it happen year after year. No we don't have the most horsepower or the best suspensions, but we have what most others don't (head turning power).
Imports with their fart cannons blaring down the street make me cringe and shake my head. The stangs going down my street bring back memories and let me know that there's a "pitbull" out there to scare off the "chihuahuas."
Nuff said.
