Tranny Fluid Change??
a buddy has a stang, and he's getting different responces on this, what's right?automatic, car has like... maybe 90,000 miles on it and we don't know if it's ever been changed before. he's been told by several mechanics NOT to change it because it'll just loosen the dirt that's built up. ive been checking around and people seem to be split evenly over the issue, here is one link that tells about it:

http://www.corvair.org/chapters/chapter017/resources/tips/vv/automatic_transmission_fluid_change_warning.html

It would be really great if you great minded mustang owners could shed some light on the situation.

THANKS

Tranny Fluid Change??
I don't know about that. Maybe its a catch 22. That fluid is going to break down; its life is not that long. But again, if you do change it, maybe it will loosen the dirt. Perhaps he should change it and do a few interim changes to drain that dirt out (ie a subsequent change every say 7000 miles or so). Just an opinion. Eventually that thing will lock up though.
