94-03 have a 3.8 2004 has a 3.9 (really a 3.83) and 05s have a 4.0. Car and driver clocked a auto 05 6er in the quarter at 15.3 and modified mustangs clocked a 99 3.8 5 speed at 14.9 when they first came out.

Dude the only V6s that are good races stock to stock for a 96-98 GT is the 05-06, and in some cases the V6's win. I'm modified but I destroyed an 05 V6 a few months ago. IDK unless they have some huge mods then they shouldnt be anything to worry about...

I just sold an 05 v6 autow/ a drop in filter and a GT muffler and the best I could get with it at the track was 15.2 in the 1/4.

I beat an auto GT at the track in my 6er when I had it, and beat a 5 speed on the streets.. kinda funny he kept wanting to run me.. took him 3 losses to admit that it wasnt a fluke.. he couldnt shift worth a damn and i could hit high 14's but usualy low 15's every time down the track.

what does it matter you put just a few mods on your 8 and you can beat a 6. You should race 6s just to practice ne ways.

I raced a 05 v6 when my 97gt was totaly stock. I beat it. I will say that it was pretty quik for a v-6. Also the driver was a girl! LOL I would never have lived that one down from my buddies! I would have used my own two legs to push if I would have got behind. Pretty much just pulled away and never looked back though. I even raced starting at about 70mph. I think her car was modded though because it made it up to about 130 or so, Still it was in the mirror the whole time, plus it had a head start, and blocked me.........a big PITA to get around. Thank god for down shifting! She had to have been flirting. LOL
