Default Xpipe or Hpipe?

I'm considering buying a H pipe or a X-pipe for my 1998 Mustang GT. What do my fellow stang lovers recommend? I want a good sound but plan on going with cats, to keep it legal. I also want to get a saleen shift ****, does anyone know where the best place to purchase one is?

Saleen shift ****...try ebay, not sure.

I have a MAC Pro Chamber h-pipe on my car. It does not have cats and it has a great high end gain in performance. I'd recommend that...gives you a deep rumble too. Never used an x-pipe though... Pro Chambers are $220 off ebay.....

gtstang98, how about telling us what you are looking at getting out of your Stang for performance? Those two pipes are like apples to oranges. What are your current mods? You future plans? Do you want more ft-lbs, or more hp? Be specific if you want a good answer.

The "X" pipe does change the sound, especially at the higher RPM's. More like a high RPM Formula 1 car. It does pick up a few extra HP, based on actual Dyno testing I did on my 347. Location of the "x" is also important in relation to the distance from the headers. It can actually "over scavenge" and create a lean condition.

I like the gains you get from an X-pipe. I'd do the H-pipe if you want the "rumble" sound.

That is why I am asking the guy what I wants from his car, so I can give him a decent response. BTW...my Bassani midlengths, Bassani x-pipe, & Magnaflow rumble bro. Just not the same way it does if say I had Hooker LT's, MRT h-pipe, & some Magnapacks, or dare I say it...Flowmasters! 2 Different sounds completely. His midpipe, & catback needs to be setup right, so he doesn't get a crappy sound, or bad hp setup. But as it seems so important to him, he's yet to respond.
