Default Bigger gains: x-pipe vs. catback

I'm on a tight budget so i'm wondering if i should go for lets say a VRS x-pipe O/R and SLP UDP or LMII catback only. How are the HP gains of the x-pipe vs. catback?

Also, what do you guys think of the Pypes x-pipe and Violator catback? The price is great.

that seems like a good deal i don't know anything about pypes performance so i can't help you there. I have a magnaflow cat-back and a magnaflow catted x-pipe and it ran me about 800 for both.

Any other opinions on HP gains from x-pipe vs. catback or x-pipe & UDP vs. catback only?

A catback on a stock vehicle will give little if any gains. An X pipe might be able to net you 5-8HP.

mafia i think you mean if it was a hi-flow x-pipe 5-8 hp but he is saying off-road xpipe taking off the 2 resonators and 2 cats that seriously restrict flow on our stock exhaust should get him more then 5hp id say 12-15ish just from O/R xpipe but i dunno

seems to me taking cats off will only get you about 1-2 hp, but i think a catback will make it sound better, and also a X pipe gets raspy i hear, id do the catback and the UDP, idealy...but why dont you just buy some loud muffs and clamp them on in place of the stockers? muuuuuuuch cheaper, same gains....somehing to think of...seems to me like they take us to the cleaners for our catback stuff, whata jip for pipes....[sm=wtf.gif]

I couldnt find what year of Stang you own. If it is a Fox body BBK claims their x pipe will give 12-15 hp. with cats is 399.99 w/o cats is 189.99. Actualy the 4.6 prices are about the same. As for the cat back system I will always say the Flowmaster is the best sounding. Flowmaster system is 240.00 for the Fox, and 240.00 to 320.00 for the 4.6. All these prices are from Jegs. I couldnt find the HP rating for the cat back system.

i highly disagree ive had flowmaster catback and now i have magnaflow catback....and i will never buy flowmaster again....they are fun dont get me wrong but they are louder in your car then they are outside the car...and the drone at higher rpm's like on interstate almost makes you sick to your stomach....the magnaflow are perfect....rather quiet inside the car....when i first got them i was disappointed till i let my cousin drive me car to test it and i was stading in the driveway blew me away how looooud they are outside the car and still able to have a conversation with your girl when crusing on the interstate....

It sounds like I'll be best with an O/R X-pipe and UDP. The exhaust should get a louder and the HP gains should be the best deal for the money.

I want to upgrade the exhaust solely for performance. I don't care much for the sound/tone as long as it doesn't drone on the highway. Am i doing something stupid by upgrading to a O/R X-pipe and keeping the stock catback?
