RE: supercharger
you can get a used vortech for 2k or less. the v2 and v1 vortechs are the same unit for 96-04. they just require a $300 mounting bracket from vortech to mount up. the pi swap, that could be costly. i think acer paid like 1200 for his swap and his header install and stuff. the forging... you gotta buy pistons, rods & crank. that's almost 1500 alone, or more depending on what you get. then you gotta buy a new block to put them on, which is a few hundred. then another 1k or so for install, unless you want to do it yourself, which i wouldn't. then you get a shop to install it, that's another 2-3k easily. i got quoted 5500 for everything.

RE: supercharger
All I was saying is my pi swap cost about $700-800 and I would put the engine together myself so I don't think to put in labor costs for a shop. You could buy a new block but if there isn't a ridge on your cylinder wall then there is no reason to replace the block. If the cylinder bores mic out to be within spec there is no machine work really need or you could just have your stock block bored. Then all you would have to do is assemble the short block.

RE: supercharger
with 125 k miles on my car.. i would almost say new pistons and rods and crank are pretty much necessary if i am going to supercharge,....which is what i plan on doing. So. . . i might as well do the engine rebuild... along with the PI swap...and then supercharge. I dont think it would be smart to supercharge 125 k miles on stock internals. . . correct?

RE: supercharger
people have supercharged with more miles than that.
amoosenamedhank, i could have avoided buying a new block too, but my car would be out of commission for a long **** time while it waited for my stock block to be rebuilt then finally put back in.

Yeah thats true you do have to have the ability to have down time. I also live in MN so I have a long winter to work on stuff. FYI I wasn't trying to argue with you just trying to help out. It really all depends on your situation. If you can do your own work and if you can have down time on your stang.

RE: supercharger
Wait I am hearing all this about PI heads and ported PI heads, what about getting your stock heads ported and polished with a PI intake, THEN slap a supercharger on it around 6 to 8 psi. That should get you a little over 300RWHP, right guys? [sm=smiley25.gif]

For sure. P&P NPI heads, if done correctly, will flow better than PI's. Its more trouble than its worth tho. PI heads can be found at most junkyards for dirt.
