OH Crap guys, I took my Mustang out today and I dident do nothing extreme just laid on the gas a little bit before I came home on the home road, and when i parked and got out I smelled something buring wasent like rubber but like i dont kno! LOL I kno thats alot of help but the other day I drove it a lil bit and laid on it just a little bit nothing extreme and I smelled it then too! Ive had the car and like I told you about my mechanic having a falling out with him because of him not doing his job! It has 46K miles and have never had the tranny serviced or a Fuel Filter plan on doing all the this weekend. I kno my information isent much help I just dont wanna burn anything in my car up![&:]

Could it be something stuck to the exhaust pipe? When I had my 98 I had apparently ran over a milk jug. When I got home something smelled like ****. I checked under my car and saw the remnants of a moo juice container melted to my pipes.

try changing the fuel filter and tranny fluid and filter if its an auto, also check all fluids like brake fluid, etc...

Try a plastic bag melted onto your catalytic converter. Stunk like hell for days.

damn! i think i know exactly what you're talking about. i've been having this strange burning smell coming from my car too, at first i thougt it was the belt but the smell didn't seem to be coming from under the hood and the belt didn't have any marks or any signs of stress, so i'm stumped for now
