Default I know nothing about tires Help!

Im getting new tires soon, but dont know what to get. i have 01 gt with 04 cobra 17x9 rims. What are some good suggestions? I dont go to the track. street cruiser. Not looking to spend more then 600-675$ or so. Pretty much just a summer car. Had one shop suggest toyo proxes 4. they suggest 245/45-17. I have no idea what that means but i figured id get some feedback from some stang owners first.....thanks

Try posting the below internet address into your internet browser address window or go to tirerack.com and search for 17" 2004 cobra tires. I use the BF Goodrich g-force on my '96 Cobra (with a Z speed rating), but you can find other good and cheaper tires. I've found Tire Rack has awesome prices and will ship to your home or your local tire shop, but you have to pay for installation and balancing at the local shop.

The other poster is right in that the 17" '04 cobra wheels take 275/40/17 tires.

For a decent all around tire that's not expensive at all, I really like the Sumitomo HTRZ or HTRZ II. If you're basically running stock and not doing a lot of overdriving, it's the best bang for the buck...IMO.

check what size tires you have on now they should be 275 40's. a 245 tire seems small to be putting on a 9 inch rim. stock gt's with 8inch rims come with 245 size tires.

You can get Kumho 245/45 17's thru tire rack for about 92 smackeroo's a piece. I still have my stock good years but my friend buys the kumhos and swears by them.

I have your same rims, I'm buying 2 275/40/17 nitto drag radials, and 2 275/40/17 hancooks. Altogether it is 600 bucks!!! IMO thats a great price for four tires. And since its a summer car, the drag radials would be even more beneficial.
