Default RE: headers

Im pretty sure you have to pull the motor (raise the motor) out of any car for "easier" installation.

I have heard of some people putting headers on without moving the motor at all. Hell their hands must be real small and they must have loads of time on their hands.

Here's the drill, did them 2 weeks ago. You need to: remove midpipe, remove starter, remove strut rod under starter, unbolt motor mounts, break air inlet pipe at MAF, jack & block up engine as high as possible (I took the mounts off the engine for even more room). Manifolds come off easy with swivel head ratchet, header bolts harder, take 13mm, short box wrench and bend straight with torch. (I bought mine at advanced auto for $4. Ampro, nice wrench for the $) JUST BE SURE YOU USE A GOOD QUALITY HEADER GASKET (I USED PERCY XX CARBON SEAL FOR LIFE A++++) and carefully start every bolt as far as you can by hand, before tightening with a wrench, some folks have stripped the head, not good. good luck, Job's a B**ch but well worth it!

You make it sound so easy lol. Unbolt this jack this up.. put new headers on bolt things backtogether... Its one of the worst installs EVER

Default RE: headers

I still regret not putting headers on when I swapped my engines. I want headers but don't want to go through it again.
