just make sure you have the right tools if neccessary, then its quite easy, i got fuel on my eyeball which burned, and on my arms, which burned too, took all the oil out of my skin, but it only took me 5-15 minutes.

You have sn95 it should be 2 clips holding it on... according to some guy who also has sn95 told me it was 2 clips idk though... on my 02 i had to have a special ford wrench that got it off.

while we're on the topic, how do you go about depressurizing the lines? my new filter is sitting in my car ready to go in

you're a wuss!

It's easier than changing oil. You don't even need to depressurize the line, just take the filter off with a rag in your hand and do not lay directly under the filter when removing it, or you will be wearing eau-d'gasoline. you should just pend the $15 on a hayne's if you need the pictures. it's worth the investment.

i didn't depressurize mine, but there is a button in your trunk you can press to turn the fuel off, then crank your car until it cuts off, then its depressurized....

I've seen the filter on the 99-04's. Is it in the same place on the 98's?

Fuel filter replacement is easy. ONly takes about 30 min. You use the fuel cutoff switch in the trunk to get the fuel out of the lines. THen you take off the clips and put it in. PM is you want the full write up as it is simple or buy a Haynes manual. I got one and it is very helpful.
