The sticker price for my '00 GT I bought mid-December of '05 was $11,700

KBB says around $10,500 for around 70k miles, which is "average for that year"

I bought my 99GT 5sp, leather, all options except Mach1000 with 48K for 9500 in the fall of '04

compared to what prices are now, and i see what others paid,, it was a steal...
From what I heard with the introduction of the '05 mustangs everyone is getting into them again, all the people who weren't originally mustang enthusiasts, but they usually can't afford one and end up rolling back a few years, result? $8,000 becomes $11,000 >.<

My opinion is that 99-04 GT's are way way overpriced. (at least compared to book values)
There is alot of uncertanty in this, as in the book values seem a bit low to me, but asking prices always seem high.

IF i were you, i'd look for anything in the 99-02 range with LOW miles. It is your best bet, search around and find something you can afford, but remember, dont settle for something in the high 70K range in miles,,

howerver, i was looking for 99GT's a week ago,, people are asking 11,000's for cars with 70K+ miles,,

good luck, if i were you, i wouldnt pay anything over 11K for a car with over 40K miles
I'm pretty much in agreement. A few days ago I was checking prices on cars.com of ours cars in an attempt to get a friend to buy a GT. But every Stang that I saw was priced so high - including the private party vehicles. I bought my GT a little more than a year ago with 87k miles, leather, manual, blah blah, for $7800. Compared to what I've seen these days, I think I got really lucky.

the time of the year thing though, that doesnt explain how some of us bought a car a year or so ago, put on miles, and still see average prices for 1.5 - 2K higher NOW...

i think that the KBB values and what not are too low and the asking prices in general are too high...

thats why if this guy is gonna go looking for a 99-01 GT, he needs to LOOK and LOOK GOOD so he doesnt get screwed..

i cringe every time someone says they bought a 99-02 or so with like, 80K and paid 9 or 10K ,, seems like they got rammed

from what ive been told, a 96-98 Cobra is a good bet, many people dont like the, so they dont sell as well, and the potential is equal to or better than a 99-04GT
