i see this around the forum every once in a while, what does Ping mean???

it's engine knock aka detonation, its usually caused when you run a low octane and your timing is advanced, or if you have F/I

no prob, oh i forgot to mention; what really happens is the fuel ignites before the piston is TDC, so it kinda sends a shock through the connecting rods and what not since the piston is on its way up but the pre-ignition wants to push it back down.

the knock sensors pick up on this "shock" then computer starts to pull timing or what ever it does to correct it.
