what is best for a unmodded 98 gt. shorty or long tube headers

Longtubes.Other than emmissions testing,there's no reason to run shorties over long tubes.Installation is still a PITA either way.If you're interested,Bassani makes a mid-length header thats 50 state legal and with stock ground clearance,but installation is still a PITA.

Longtubes will require a new midpipe.

You will not see any significant gains with the shorties.

yeah LT's require a new midpipe......and even long tubes should pass inspections in most states as long as you get a catted midpipe....i know they will in PA.

dont waist your time on shorty headers. Go with the long tube and get a new mid pipe, while your at it get an exhaust also.

Depends on your state, of course, but as long as you have cats (aftermarket ones work) in MD you're fine with LTs.
