Default PLEASE HELP..Tire Question, wider rears? smaller fronts?

Hi guys, please help me answer this question since I am completely mechanically/auto uninclined. I am looking to buy some tires for my 18X7.5 rims, and I've heard about buying wider rear tires and thinner front tires. Well, I found a good deal on a set of almost new Bridgestones that came off a 350Z...the rears are 245/40/18 and the fronts are 225/40/18. Do you think these will be a good fit for my 18X7.5 rims? Will the wider tires work in the rear well? Will I have any issues? Thanks a bunch guys. Please pm me, respond to the thread, or if you definitely can help email me at MatthewBrown6320761@yahoo.com

Matt

get some wider rims. I don't know anything about the tire sizes, but it seems right. How wide were the 350z rims that they came off of??

First you will need wider rims as 245/45-17 is max tire size recommended for the 17" x 8" stock rims. 17" or 18" is up to you but everything revolving around the 18" sizes will cost you that much more money than 17". Somewhere around 255 or 265/40-17's would keep your car nice and low and make it grip and handle pretty awesome. You may need some wheel spacers which ever route you take to keep the oversized tire/wheel combo from rubbing on your frame. http://www.maximummotorsports.com/spacers.asp Too large a tire and I think you may also have to take off your rear quad shocks....maybe yes, maybe no. As far as small front and large rear, that is strictly a drag thing. If dragging is what you are all about and you plan on running your car at the track, small front and large rear drag tires are the route to go. If all around handling is your thing, keep them relatively large all the way around. You can have 255's up front and 275's in the rear, that's cool too. Whatever, make yourself happy first.
