Default What will it take to make a Mustang run 12's

I was wondering what it would all take to get a 99 - 04 Mustang GT or Cobra (only 99 & 02 Cobra's) into the 12's in the 1/4 mile. Would it be able to be done with just bolt ons and Nitrous or would you need a S/C? Thanks for the help.

in a 99-04 gt, a 100 shot of nitrous along with 4.10 gears and drag radials or slicks should break into the 12's

I think just a 100 shot of nitrous would put it very close...

ask DILO2001GT, he runs 12's with his bolt on car and a 100 shot.

you can get a gt or cobra into the 12s with bolt ons but you will need alot of suspension work. and some drag slicks and then prolly some axels after you snap the stock ones. but 100 shot will be easier to into the 12s

if you had all the bolt ons and sum sticky tires you should be in or very very close to 12.xx

nitrous will get you into the mid/low 12s after the bolt ons

Do you really want to know what is will take to run 12's in a 99 - 04 GT? I will tell you: About 340 RWHP, a good set of lower control arms, 3:73's and a set of street drag radial tires like Mickey Thompson's.

No amount of bolt on's will give you this kind of power. For example, on a Stock 02 4.6 2V with manual tranny will dyno at about 225 RWHP while an automatic will hit about 208 or so RWHP.

This means you will need about 115 or so hp to the wheels to obtain your desired high 12 second Stang. Bolt on's as X or H Pipe, Cats, pullies, Air Pipe, MAF, Upper Plenum, Throttle Body and a good tune will give you AN HONEST 60 to 65 horses to the wheels -- well short or about half of the needed 115 HP needed over stock. Nitrous will give you that big shot. However, in it self, I don't think Nitrous is quite enough. I think you pull mid 13's. The question is this: do you want to depend on a chemical to improve you performance? Do you want to constantly fill bottles? It is a pain in the ***.

If you want high 12's go supercharger. About 6 lbs of boost should do it. In addition to suspension work and tires, you will need a Focus SVT 255 lph pump, 42lb. Injectors, 75mm TB, ProM 80mm MAF and a dyno tune.

I run 396 RWHP on a 02 Automatic with 400lbs of torque, along with all kinds of tranny, suspension, rear end work and I run high 11's.

Hey janine, your a little off. With full bolt-ons, cams, 4:10's and a sticky tire, you could easily hit 12.90's. There's a guy on another forum with full bolt-ons, vt stage 1 cams and no headwork running 12.7's. So with ported heads, full bolt-ons, cams, 4:10s and some suspension, I could see 12.5's easily attainable. Then slap on a 100 shot and hit 11's. Those are my plans for the summer.

Not true at all. A bolton GT will easily go 12s, and add some cams in there its a sure thing.

Code is making 340 RWHP and ran a 12.40 I beileve
