I have always heard that it is a bad idea to run drilled rotors on the street?

Ok ok, here's the deal... no here-say. I did put the brake kit on my stang and opted for slotted and drilled rotors. The rotors make no noise (factory motorcraft pads), and the dust is not too bad at all... I havent put over 150 miles on the new brake system yet so I can't comment on pad life, but I don't think it is going to be bad.

They do fit under 17" wheels. The second picture is the front brakes on my stang (right after I finished the swap). There's about 1/4" clearance between the wheel and the back of the caliper, and less than that between the spokes of the wheel and the COBRA lettering, but because it is so close, it looks oh so good. My road is about as poor quality as they come, bumpy as hell... I had nothing bump around or cause any problems with the front with factory 17" wheels.

Check my HOW-TO writeup sticky in this section of the forum, I provide a couple links to buy the kit, and obviously, a how-to on the install for the front and rear.

When I bought the front and rear kits, I bought them from stangsuspension.com ... Since then, they have re-done their site and sell the front and rear kits as one part now. The rear brakes are upgraded to 11.65" rotor, but are still a single piston caliper. I went over all of this in my write-up

only draw back to 13 in rotors and cobra calipers is the rusting line where the caliper doesnt touch the rotor. there are some rotors that dont rust, those would be the ones i would get if i could do it again. also 13 in rotors need a minimum 17 rim

try check out shadowdrakes top pic (mines the exact same way, just not painted)

on the plus side...there is absolutely no fade to these brakes (w/ the front brake swap only at least)

Yeah, the rust line is a pain. My rotors were supposed to be coated to stop rust, but on the day I did the rear swap, it was like 55-60 and there was so much condensation on EVERYTHING. It looked like it had just rained and EVERYTHING got soaked. It was even essentially raining off my gas tank while I was below it [:@]. My rotors had been wet before and they didn't rust, but I don't know what was up with this condensation but it caused everything to rust, even my brand new rear rotors which I didn't even have on yet.

I have the Brembo coated rotors they have shown no rust. I have about 600miles and the pad wear isn't noticeable. Ford Pads

why wouldndt you just get a slotted rotor? or just a crossdrilled? dont mix..

i dont think brembo makes a mixed rotor.. thats probably because it sucks. heh

i mean it looks, alright. but idk..

i guess you could throw some in the rear of our gts, but id put something more reliable up front

i might just do what you did and get the rotors and paint the calipers red. have you guys seen a dsg or mineral gray with red calipers? does it look good?
