First off nice numbers. But one thing I noticed is the numbers are STD not SAE. SAE numbers are the ones everyone likes to brag about. I got my car dyno'ed and the numbers were nice (290/301) but they were STD. I researched a little and found out that a lot of people use 4.7% as the number to convert STD to SAE. Either way your car still puts out nice numbers.

can anyone explain the different dynos to me? why is there more than one in the first place?
The differance is in how the dynos are loaded. A Mustang dyno uses a current (called an Eddy Current) to load (put resisannce to the roller). The benifit is the dyno can simulate real world conditions,ie it can take into account wind resistnace, car weight, etc. A Dynojet uses a weighted drum to load, the weight of which cannot be altered. Dynojet numbers are usually a little higher and most consider them less accurate. That said I don't really consider either type to be all that accurate, there are way too many varibles. The reality is that a dyno is simply a tool that you can use to make your car faster, the real numbers that count are at the bottom of a timeslip.

i agree 100% on that one. dyno numbers are just bragging rights but in a sense get you no where

but dont those numbers have alot to do with how well you can drive the thing? Take some kid in cobra and have him smoke the tires and a good racer in a gt and he would probably whup the snake, despite the 130hp difference.

Youre telling me. I put down 239rwhp on a mustang dyno. It didnt make me feel too good. I had full intake, full exhaust, ect. U line that banana colored GT with 261.4hp GT beside my old one, and it would have made it look like a 215rwhp car it is. (mustang dyno #'s that is)

THats why dyno numbers are so gay. he supposedly has 22+rwhp more than a 3/4 bolt on GT! HA! good one.

Well, just like the caption says, I went to a local mustang shop today to get a few baseline pulls... Needless to say I was quite impressed... Granted, I do have a MAC CAI and UPR O/R X-pipes but I must say I was surprised with my pulls... First run was 256.3 HP and torque around 300.. Second pull after the car cooled down netted me 261.4 HP and a whopping 310 torque... I was quite happy to say the least... Now I can start the slow process of modding a lil bit more... Most of the guys at the shop were thinking I could be in the 280 Hp range with just a few more bolt ons.... hehehehehe

If you made 260 RHWP with only a x and cai then they have the dyno set to run high. I only made 260 RHWP with full boltons, including LTs, x, catback, all intake boltons, underdrives, etc etc.

I made 280 RWHP with all that and stage 2 cams.

Don't put to much stock in dyno numbers, alot of shops intenetionally inflate the numbers to get you to come back there again and again. It is good you have a baseline, just remeber that they are about 20 or so RWHP high. The real important thing is that next time use the same dyno and you will be able to see the changes to your car with each mod
