Default power band....

does anyone have the stock power band for a 98 gt. i never know when to shift, i have read in some places to try and rev up to about 6200 and then others say that the maximun horse is at 5500 and that i should shift there. i know that depending on your mods your car would be able to handle the reving higher but with a completely stock car am i just bogging myself down by taking it up to 6200.

Default RE: power band....

I'm not sure what your stock powerband is. However
I do know. You do not want to shift at your max HP output... unless by some freak occurance that's at the end of your powerband.
Think of your power as a bell curve (or upside down U)
Your going to make your best power at the very top but at the top 33% you probabally make 80% of your power.
You'll want to stay in that 33% of your rpm range.
To do this you shift at the top of your 'power band' so that when you do your at the bottom of it in the next progressive gear.

Hope this helps
Rob
