Default cold air thru fender

Should I buy a cold air system that is in the engine compartment or thru the fender? I was told that thru the fender runs a risk of getting water in the engine. Any suggestions on brands?

its whatever you want. you wont get a big horspower gain from coming from the fender. maybe 1 hp because there is another bend in the intake. get a jlt intake. mine is in the mail.

mine is in the fender. have not had any water get to the filter. supposedly, the air going to the filter in the fender is cooler than having a filter sitting directly in the engine bay with the engine heat and all. like i said, supposedly. just pick what you like best.

Your not gonna get any water in the engine. The only bad thing about the filter in the fenderwall is that its a PITA to put on.

I just always thought it looked cool having a fenderwell intake...Any intake you get will give you 1-5 hp anyway, so just get what you think looks best

Fender well intakes have the advantages of NO chance of fan wash, no chance of getting it wet when washing the engine, and you'll have cooler air in the fender well. Down side? The filter is annoying to get to (just not as convenient). Getting water in the engine from there is not an issue because Mustangs have long noses... AND the filter is located in front of the wheel, not behind. AND there's a shield guarding it. If your car gets submerged enough for water to get there, it will be over a filter in the engine compartment, too.
