borexborexstrokex.7854 x by 8(number of cylinders)
so 3.55(bore) x 3.55 x 3.54(stroke) x.7854 x 8 =============280.311 rounded up to 281 281 ci is i believe 4605 and thats where u get the 4.6

Is the 4.6 litre considered a 289 Cubic Inch motor? I think 5.0 is 302 so I am using my not so good math skills and I come to think that 4.6 would be considered 289 Cubic inches. Is this true? Thanks!

You might have got the 289 from the old motor. Ford used to make a 289 to put in as a base model V8. Theres one in my dads 64 galaxie 500. Its a dog. lol
