Default Sounds of a failing pulley bearing

Well, I'm thinking my idler pulley bearing is going out. I've already destroyed a serpentine belt (happened at around 13000 miles). I want to get some other's opinions so I can be sure before I take some action on it.

It only makes a noticable noise at idle. Inside the car with the windows down it sounds almost like the whistle a centrifugal blower makes. Under hood it is closer to a squeal. Today it was alternating between making noise for a second or two, then not for a second or two, and that is what made me take note of it. If I pull the TB open a little (to bring it up to about 1200 RPM) the loudest of the noise stops, but there's still a considerable sound that scales with the RPM. When it falls back to idle, the alternating noise picked up again.

I can't describe it too well right now, I'll get my video camera out tomorrow and get a sound clip. Essentially it sounds like what I think is a failing pulley bearing. It's nothing close to the squeal of a slipping belt... much quieter.

Wondering if anyone has had their idler pulley bearing fail, and need to be replaced. What kind of sound did it make and how much was the new bearing?

You get the whole pulley and bracket assembly from the parts store for about $50.00. Mine bent because of the torque from the engine, and the belt would squeal horribly at idle. since them I have not had any probs.
