Default any way to tell if I have original tranny?

Well i thought i'd ask. I just got the transmission out of my car and it sits in my basement. My buddy and I have suspicions it's a junkyard or replacement transmission. It has a bunch of writing on it, all different numbers and stuff.

Is there anything significant of an original trans?

Either way it's solid, I"m letting it "thaw" in the basement before I start disassmbly

If you took your car apart piece by piece, you'd be very suprised to find that a lot of pieces have writing hiddin in spaces you wouldn't normally see. I wouldn't be suprised either way.

1997. No I don't mean like it' supgraded it may be a replacement. Unless ford puts random numbers all over it in blue and green ink... LOL

hey it's not entirely a garbage trans. I like it for DD. I know for race it'd prolly suck but aside from the bad synchros it's been super smooth for me, which is why I have a box of synchros ready to go in
