not to jack the post but i have a mac fender well intake on my car, how often would you recommend cleaning it?
I have the same one. I got tired of having to wrestle with the air filter so I cut mine and made it into a short ram intake. Much easier to service the filter now. Typically you should change/clean your air filter every 12-15k miles.

Compressed air. I think you could also use the K&N recharger kit, but im not sure if macs air filters are oil based or not...

no,no soap. use the K&N cleaning and recharge kit. it comes with a cleaner and a spray to put the oil back in it, after its cleaned. they need to be sprayed with the oil after cleaned!!! the oil is what traps most of the dirt and crap.

i havent cleaned the air filter in 5k miles... that could be part of the reason... and the airfilter is right under the front bumper so it can pick up alot of debris and dirt. im going to check the plugs alittle later on and i will try to post a pic...

heres my dyno sheet with air/fuel.....

im telling you, the clutch, you guys dont know how a clutch can kill mileage? when i first got my car i got 16.7 mpg first tankfull and then 2nd time after my new clutch i got 21.6 and that was driving it normal, but the funny thing was the 16.7 i drove mostly highway....and the clutch wasnt even slipping for most of the tankful

if the clutch is slipping your not grapping and putting all the power to the wheels, therefore it takes more gas, to make the same power, trust me, and when my clutch went out, it just went out quick there was no telling it was coming, but thats just my 2 cents, take it into consideration tho, if it was a plug youd be running like **** too

If you're running rich... clearly the injectors are pumping more gas into the engine hence bad gas mileage.

I just think it comes along with having it tuned safely, you're going to get worse gasmileage.

What plugs are you running and what are they gapped at? What size injectors are you running? I wouldn't worry too much about a little black smoke when you stand on it. Being blown and jumping on it....there is ALOT of fuel being dumped in a very short time.
