Default Getting gears fixed. Have a ??

As some of you know, I had my 4.10`s installed about 3 weeks ago and the guy didn`t install them right. Im bringing the car back on this Tues. Only drove the car once since the install. Heres whats up. They really dont whine while cruising. Its when I let off the gas while in gear is when I hear noise in the rear end. No clunking, just kinda like a roaring sound. Most noticable in 4th gear. What didnt he do right for this to be? Also, im getting a couple drops of fluid in my garage every now and then. Its where the driveshaft and the rear end meet. WTF`s with that? Any info would be great. Thanks.

A common mistake is people don't replace seals when doing gears. I'd say he didn't replace your pinion seal. That will cause fluid to leak, and also, if you look under your car, you'll prolly be able to see where the driveshaft has spun gear lube all over the underneath. If you were to keep driving it, you'll eventually have all the fluid laying on your garage floor. Been there, done that, got the spill mark on the concrete to prove it. Haha.

Allright. Its really not leaking much. Do you think it will be ok to drive it to the shop? Its around 20 miles from my house.

you should be fine is you just cruise. If it's only lost a few drips there is still plenty in there. Just don't beat on it is all

sounds like the rearend gasket is fully on there...
if its only in 4th.. i doubt its the shims. but if its making noise in all gears more then likely its going to be the shims.

I do hear it in other gears as well but not quite as noticable as when its in 4th. This really throws me cause ive never heard of anything like this before. [&:] I just dont understand why its so much louder in 4th vs. the other gears.

I dunno, but if that happened to me I would tell the guy who did it to pay up!
