Default where in "NORMAL" does your car run at?

I put in a 180 stat yesterday and now the car runs between the "N" and the "O" in normal. I also flushed out the entire cooling system. Also too, the little orange fan symbol / coolant light(farthest to the right) lights up in the dash now. The light will kinda cycle on and off. I am wondering if the guy at autozone sold me a 170 or 160 stat??? Anybodys light ever come on?? Thanks for the input guys.

don't know what may be going wrong, but I was just wondering WHY you would put one in? The engine is designed to run in it's stock temp range.

It will say 180 on it if that is what you have. My car varies in the temp since I also did the same thing. I run between the mid N and end of the R. It all depends on how I push it and how consistent I am driving. The reason that you put it on is the engine operates a bit cooler which squeezes out just a little hp. I do think to get the full effect, you should tune it to run at that temp though.

I run a 180 degree stat at the advice of Steeda. Never had a problem in any weather condition. Runs hot enough in the winter (if I run it at all) and never heats to the extreme in hot stop and go traffic like it used to. I would say on average my engine probably runs around the same temperature as yours, somewhere around the "O" in normal. It will go up a bit higher in the dead of summer and in stop and go traffic but it is never a concern as sometimes with the stock 195 stat. Never goes past 12 o'clock on the gauge. Word to the wise, 160 is too low. Stay away from that stat.

I run an SLP 180* Thermostat. Unless I'm in some horrible stop and go traffic my needle sits on the "O". Now the other day on my way to work when it took me 40 mins to go about a 1/4 mile it go all the way over to the very letf side of the "L". I'm going to fluch the coolant system here ina few weeks. It hasn't been done in God knows how long. Otherwise, my car runs great. It stays warm, but never gets really hot.

The light is triggered by your coolant level also. Check to make sure it's full of antifreeze. The reason it varies is because of the amount that is in your resevoir. There is a sensor in there that checks the level. Like sometimes when i park mine on a hill it will throw it, along with the oil light.

SLP 180 here, it was extremely easy to install..

Take the two bolts off, then take the aluminum elbow off , you'll see the thermostat in the manifold crossover
