Default It was just a matter of time

Well i was coming home early in the morning a couple nights ago and it was slick out and still drizzling. I decided to take a turn hard just to mess around. Ive always been able to keep my car under control after having the rear end kick out but this time i couldnt. the rear end kicked out and i tried to recover but swung the wheel to the left too hard and spun around hitting a curb. the right rear tire/wheel crack right off the axel and the car it self landed on the wheel. worst night ever. cop came after i called the towing company which i didnt want to see. asked me if i was drinking told him no, i told him im a volunteer firefighter which got me off a wreckless driving ticket. my cars in the shop right now, need a new axel, axel assembly and brake parts. parts over all is costing me 247 + labor so about 500 for the stuff done at the shop. i ordered a replica wheel and tire online which cost another 400. bottom line from this whole experience i consider my self very lucky. first because i hit the curb at a spot right between a telephone pole and a tree. so it could have been worse. second i got no ticket for the accident. third there wasnt another car involved. and last there was no body damage to the car. im deffinately going to be a different driver after this. sometimes it takes crap like this to happen to teach you a lesson.

Wow that sucks, but at least nobody got hurt and there wasn't any significant damage to the car!

Sorry to hear that you messed up your car, but am glad to hear that it was not that bad. Yeah you have to be very careful on slick road, espically when going around corners. The road here in Fl are like driveing on ICE when it rains, and during thoes days I ever get on the gas, and have to take off from stops at idle otherwise I will just sit and spin the tires.

yea, ive had the car for almost a yr now and know how it handles. it was just bad judgement on my part. normally i wouldnt have had any trouble taking that turn at the speed i took it. its funny though that i was able to drive it to work when it snowed last time with a foot of snow on the rds but just a little rain this time screwed me over.

at least you're ok. just take it as a lesson learned the hard way...which is the way it seems a lot of us need to learn[:@]

its good to hear that that is all that happened..

i'd say something like, well, at least your learned your lesson, or somethign to that affect

but seeing as how i got VERY VERY lucky from having a destroyed front axel after having the car a few months, i wont

have fun with it though when you get it back

Live and learn. I had a experience almost like that happen to me when I had my 94 Cobra. I dont drive like I used to when I was younger.
