Default H or X

They don't due to chassis differences, but Hot Rod did a test using rice's theory.

The car acutally made more power with an X back (no mufflers) than with open headers.

Default H or X

I did a g-tech run and my cobra is only making 239 at the wheels and I think that it is the P.O.S. exhaust that I have robbing me of my horse power. My cousin has a 89 notch and he ran a 11.7 with an H-pipe then he switch to an X and he shaved off 2 tenths with the switch and his car sounds so much better not quite as loud as it was with the H but close

There is not a big difference in horsepower but x gives you more of a high end import v8 sound and h gives you more of a 60's muscle car sound.... Me i prefer h everytime....

There isn't that much of a difference between the 2 power wise.

Offroad X or H pipes do tend to be louder than a catted one.
Also, whether you have long tubes or not can change the tone of each specific mid pipe versus the stock manifold.

Another great X I don't think was mentioned is the SLP. IMO, it is the best sounding X (depending on your catback).

If you haven't already done so listen to the different combos to see what you like best.

WOW! this thread is old!

Of course the catback choice would sway me a bit more towards one or the other. At this point I prefer the H. Looks like I'm sprining for the cobra brake upgrade (brakes and rotors are about shot, so I gotta do something anyway), so the mid pipe will have to wait for a while.

hell, am I the only one that would go for the H pipe? I prefer H, the sound is more american muscle to me compared to X pipes which have an exotic/import sound. i'm not sure the horsepower gain with an X compared to an H, i know X flows better but the difference i'm sure is not huge and therefore not enough for me to warrant the sound quality of the H.
Most would agree if u match a x with a chambered muff = [&:] but mate it with straight thru muff =[sm=drooldude.gif].
H - muscle car sound (deep rumble) X - Nascar race car sound
